My favorite supercar: the Ferrari F40. I’ve seen this particular car every year for the past 3 years. It sits at a dealership (which I won’t disclose for privacy reasons) year round, never moving from that spot spot, with a battery tender attached to it like a life-line. Finally this year I got the courage to ask the service manager what the story was on this particular car. He said that a (obviously) very wealthy man had bought it from them 5-6 years ago and it has never left. He pays them every month for the square footage it occupies and to continue to service it, though hardly a mile is added to it’s odometer. Though the car will be preserved for many years to come, it’ll never again be used for its intended purpose. In my mind, this seems a bit of a tragedy.
I’ll see you again next year.
